Description

Mountbellew Agricultural College has a herd of 93 holstein friesian cows & heifers to calf in spring 2017. This will be a stocking rate of 2.66LU/Ha on the 35Ha milking platform. In 2015, the herd produced 6233L/cow and 470kgsMS/cow. Supplying Aurivo the 2015 milk price was 27.3c/l at 3.32% protein & 4.01% fat. We are moving towards a grass-based spring calving system and we expect to have 75% of this years herd calved in 6 weeks. 2016 figures to follow....
